New Councillor Vacancy

Hamsey Parish Council has a vacancy for a new parish councillor. We would welcome applications from residents or business owners in all parts of Hamsey Parish, and particularly in Hamsey and Bevernbridge.

One of the strengths of Hamsey Parish Council is the harmonious working relationships we maintain, between councillors, parish clerk and our partners. Mutual respect for each other and for our business partners at LDC and ESCC pay dividends in what we manage to achieve. We hope to find someone to join the team who will add positively to this dynamic.

Time commitment may vary depending on designated role within the council, but councillors are expected to attend council meetings in the evening on or around 2nd Thursday, every 2 months. Between meetings councillors must be prepared to stay up to date with local and national changes which may affect our parish. They should be adept at communicating with relevant bodies and completing agreed actions. They must be able to communicate fairly and respectfully with people from all walks of life, some more reasonable than others.

Experience that may be of particular value at this time include:

  • Project Management
  • Fundraising/Grant Applications
  • Website Management
  • Finance
  • Charity sector, including work with food banks, dementia, disadvantaged groups, rural social care or another
  • Housing Trusts
  • Youth Work
  • Cycleways

This is not an exhaustive list; if you feel you have something you can contribute to the parish council, or if you would like to ask questions, please email clerk@hamsey.net or call Cllr.Tamsyn d'Arienzo on 07921 227623.

Beechwood Hall working group

If meetings are not your thing but you would like to be more involved in the community or the running of your village hall and park, perhaps consider that Beechwood Hall does need a working group. This will be a new group of volunteers who will help steer the upkeep and direction of activities and maintenance at Beechwood Hall. Ideas, gardening, handy person, tree care, sports leaders and events organisers are just some of the roles that could keep our village hall evolving to offer everyone the best experience. Please send your ideas, offers or expression of interest to clerk@hamsey.net
