Lighting The Beacon Tomorrow 11/11 at 7pm up at Mount Harry [Click for Poster and details]

To commemorate 100 years since the end of WW1  Anthony Oliver Secretary of The Royal Sussex Regiment Lewes Branch and Cllr d'Arienzo, Chair of Hamsey Parish Council will together light the Lewes beacon on Mount Harry. The beacon will be lit as part of a nationwide day of events to mark the Centenary of the end of the First World War and to pay tribute to the millions killed or wounded in battle, and to those on the home front who struggled amidst pain and loss to help ensure freedom survived.

The event will begin at 6.45pm with the Tribute To The Millions, followed by the Exhortation, The Last Post, 2 minutes silence and the lighting of the beacon which will link Firle and Ditchling and a chain of 'Beacons of Light' across the nation. Offham St.Peter's will ring out 100 times to mark 100 years.

All are welcome at this event. If parking at Offham church and walking up or walking from other places in the parish, please dress for the weather, bring suitable torches and take care on the paths up and down to the beacon.

It's not easy to give directions to the beacon for those who haven't been before, but here is the Google map link in case you can check on a smart phone.
