Hamsey Parish Clerk Natalie Kinch has been doing a fantastic job of liaising with Compass and East Sussex County Council (ESCC) to push for a return of our local bus services. Increasingly over the past weeks we have heard from residents who have been left feeling stranded and forgotten without this essential link to friends and work.
On Friday Natalie heard this positive news from the ESCC transport Department:
In terms of funding to support the re-start of bus services, the Department for Transport (DfT) has asked local authorities to submit costings by 19 June (Friday). They have done this but do not know when the DfT will announce their funding allocations, nor do they know how long the funding will be for. However, ESCC have been working with Compass Travel with the assumption that funding will be provided. They can therefore now say route 121 will re-start from Monday 29 June, running to timetable similar to the Saturday level of service. More details have just been made available on their website, which also includes important information on the use of face coverings by bus passengers. www.eastsussex.gov.uk/roadsandtransport/public/buses/bus-service-changes/
Compass Travel will publish their full bus timetables applicable from 29 June on their website early next week.
